LA Fleet Week® is a free public event celebrating our U.S. armed forces at our nation’s #1 port, the Port of Los Angeles. A new Labor Day tradition in Los Angeles, the event welcomes active military ships and personnel to the LA Waterfront, and features public ship tours, military equipment demonstrations, live entertainment, educational activities and more.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti will serve as the chairman this year when more aircraft, a bigger concert, tour opportunties and service member interaction are planned. The L.A. Fleet Week Foundation also is looking to expand the Veteran’s Village concept and the STEM Expo, along with other outside exhibits.
Who: Hosted by the Port of Los Angeles, LA Fleet Week® event partners include the U.S. Navy, U.S. Navy League, U.S. Marines, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army, USO, Downtown San Pedro Business Improvement District, San Pedro Chamber of Commerce, and Battleship IOWA.
What: LA Fleet Week® is a free, public event at America’s #1 port, featuring guided ship tours, selfie tours, military exhibits, aircraft flyovers, live music and entertainment, educational programs, food trucks, and fireworks.
When: September 1-4, 2017 (Labor Day Weekend)
Where: Various locations along the LA Waterfront, including the Los Angeles World Cruise Center, Battleship IOWA, and Downtown Harbor in San Pedro, Calif., a harbor community located in the City of Los Angeles.
Why: Fleet Week is an annual patriotic tradition where active military ships recently deployed in overseas operations dock in a major U.S. city for one week. Popular Fleet Week destinations include San Diego, San Francisco and New York. 2016 was the first time Los Angeles has hosted an official Fleet Week event.
